The Art of Professional Hot Waxing Services

The Art of Professional Hot Waxing Services

In professional waxing, great results do not begin with only the wax.   They begin with the right preparation before waxing begins, by creating the right foundation and caring for the skin, to make sure the client is comfortable and the service is always consistent and reliable.

The pre waxing skin preparation is an important part of the overall treatment standards and end results.  When the skin is correctly prepared before hot wax application, therapists can work with greater confidence and clients can enjoy a more polished experience from the very beginning.

A simple but effective professional pre-waxing preparation with LYCON Hot Wax is built around two essential products.  LYCON Lycotane Skin Cleanser and LYCON Pre-Waxing Oil.   Lycotane Skin Cleanser refreshes the skin, while Pre-Waxing Oil pre-soothes the skin and prepares it for hot wax application, so hot wax will only stick to the hairs not this skin. The combination of LYCON’s quality hot waxes and these essential pre waxing lotions makes LYCON waxing super comfortable and practically pain free.

These are the simple steps on how to create the necessary professional pre-waxing care.

Step 1.   The importance of clean skin before waxing begins.

Our skin is generally exposed to many types of external bacteria daily.  When waxing, the hairs are removed from the hair follicles, leaving the follicles open.  This means undesirable bacteria can enter the follicles, which means as professionals we need to take the right measures to clean the skin correctly before we wax, as well as when we finish waxing.   The best system is to cleanse the skin thoroughly with LYCON Lycotane Skin Cleanser to remove surface bacteria, perspiration, make-up, lotion residue and general grime.

Step 2.  Dry the skin after cleansing.

After cleansing the skin with Lycotane Skin Cleanser, the skin may feel a little wet.   Just pat the skin dry with a tissue.   If the skin doesn’t feel wet, you can skip Step 2 and proceed directly to Step 3.

Step 3.  Pre-Waxing Oil application.

It is important to always apply LYCON Pre-Waxing Oil before each LYCON hot wax application and reapplication.   LYCON Pre-Waxing Oil nurtures the skin as you wax, it prevents the wax from sticking to the skin and allows the wax to come off the skin very easily. This system makes LYCON waxing super comfortable and efficient.  The Pre-Waxing Oil needs to be used sparingly and lightly massaged into the skin, so you can hardly see the oil.   If you apply too much oil, the wax will not adhere to the hairs.  If you have applied too much oil, simply wipe it off with a tissue.   A little Pre-Waxing Oil goes a long way!

Step 4.   The LYCON Professional Waxing System.

The application of Lycotane and Pre-Waxing Oil is quick, and they are both very economical to use and it is important not to skip using them.  They are also very economical to use because a little goes a long way, but they are a big part of the LYCON Waxing System.  The simple 2-step approach will never let you down.

LYCON Lycotane Skin Cleanser gently cleanses the skin surface on any part of the face and body without irritation or discomfort, and it doesn’t sting or burn. Suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin on any part of the face and body.   It is best to apply the Lycotane Skin Cleanser with a cotton pad to the skin area you are going to wax.

Pre-Waxing Oil is applied sparingly after cleansing the skin.  The pre-waxing oil is best applied with the palms of your hands for larger areas and with your fingertips on small areas, such as the eyebrows and lip.

Step 5.  Check the Skin Before Waxing Begins.

Before waxing, it is important for professionals to check the skin for any contra indications.  Contra indications are things we should not wax over, such as cuts and abrasions, fresh scars, eczema, acne, sunburn, hairy moles.

Why careful preparation is necessary for the salon.

It is very important that staff are well trained in waxing and that the right products are used for the best professional waxing.  It is also important that there is uniformity by all salon staff to provide the same type of services and to use the same professional protocol.   For example, if two friends come to the salon together or at different times and they end up comparing notes how they liked the waxing they had, it is best that they are both happy with their treatment and salon ambiance.   This means if salon staff work correctly, then all clients can be happy and more confident with whoever does their waxing.

Final Thoughts

Caring for clients comes in many different forms.   It is how we greet clients on the phone and when they arrive at the salon.  Clients need to feel nurtured from the moment we even glance at them, because impressions happen super-fast.  The next important factor is to use quality products for your client’s services and that staff provide treatments effectively with confidence and pride.

What about which wax to use?

That will be another topic very soon.  😊
