In general, LYCON products are safe for use while pregnant. Understandably, an abundance of precaution applies during pregnancy, and many of the precautions are sensible, although some are based on myths rather than evidence.

Ingredients to avoid during pregnancy:
Retinoids and other ingredients in the Vitamin A family should be avoided during pregnancy. Natural low dose sources of Vitamin A (such as the carotenoids in rosehip oil) are widely considered to be safe for use during pregnancy, but consult your doctor if you have any concerns.

Salicylic Acid should not be used in high amounts during pregnancy. It may be safer to use AHAs during pregnancy, or stick to low dose salicylic acid products only. Again, consult your doctor if you have any concerns.

Hydroquinone, a skin lightening ingredient, should not be used during pregnancy. Using safer skin lightening/brightening ingredients such as Vitamin C or Niacinamide is recommended.

Essential Oils. The essential oils to avoid during pregnancy that customers may see on some internet lists include cedarwood essential oil (in the Relax + Refresh Body Massage Oil), juniper essential oil (in Contouring Body Massage Oil), and clove essential oil (in Anti-Ageing Face Massage Oil). These lists are highly contentious though, and usually relate to ingestion, not the topical use of highly diluted essential oils, as is the case with our massage oils, as it is with most cosmetic products.

However, we understand people’s caution when they see various lists on the internet, so we encourage people to check with their doctor if they have any concerns. Some people take the view that all essential oils should be avoided during the first trimester of pregnancy. This is not based on any evidence for harm from essential oils, but rather it is a precautionary approach as people are understandably very protective of developing babies.

We recommend storing LYCON products in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Room temperature storage is ideal, though refrigeration is generally safe unless otherwise specified on the product’s packaging.

Customer safety is our top priority, which is why we are dedicated to preventing the sale and distribution of counterfeit products or those sold through unauthorised retailers.

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee the authenticity or quality of products or packaging purchased outside of LYCON Cosmetics Australia or our authorised distribution partners. To ensure your safety and experience the full benefits of our products and technologies, we strongly encourage purchasing only from authorised retailers or directly from us.
