Apple & Cranberry Sugar Scrub

I bought this scrub recommended by my trainer and because it is one of the brands that we work at our institute. It is a very professional and affordable brand. the quality is outstanding and the results are really noticeable. The scrub worked on my skin type very well it exfoliated my dead skin and prevented ingrown hair that I get most of the time. The scent is fab, it does not sting, it goes smoothly on the skin and washes easily and leaves the skin very soft. I would highly recommend the whole brand products, worth the money.

I bought this in the recent Rewards Room as I am a sucker for body scrubs. I hadn’t heard of Lycon before so it was a good chance to try something new too. Lycon is an Australian company and was actually first established in the waxing market. My 100g scrub is in a pale green tube with a clear flip top lid. It must be popular in Europe as half the writing is in French. This gives a bit of background and instructions for use - apply in sections on moist skin or with wet hands, massage in circular movements then rinse off. I’ve been using it in the shower on wet skin. The scrub is very thick and pale green, it is more like a jelly than a cream. It has an apple smell although I’m not really familiar enough with cranberries to identify that. It is very pleasant and it does contain extracts of both fruits. The sugar crystals are quite rough but if you massage gently there is no problem, and you can certainly go harder if you want. While writing this I’m using it on the back of my hand and it is quite harsh for the thin skin there. The sugar will dissolve so definitely no risk of clogging drains. This scrub is oil-free which is great if that is what you are after, also means no slippery shower floor. After using the scrub my skin feels nice and smooth; I always moisturise so can’t say if it would dry out your skin but I’m thinking not. A few minor negatives - being so thick it is actually quite hard to squeeze it out which might get worse towards the end of the tube. I can’t see any information on the tube about recycling the plastic. Some of the ingredients sound a bit “chemical” so check it out if this is an issue for you. A few more positives - it’s not tested on animals, lasts 18 months after opening and has a long expiry date before opening (December 2023 on mine). It contains vitamin E to help your skin stay soft. I like this scrub but I think there are others I prefer so I probably wouldn’t buy it again however I would recommend it as it is certainly well priced.

Prior to this year's May Beautorium, I had been researching "Hand Scrubs" on the Internet to see what was available. The reason for this is that my current "Planet Earth Hand Scrub" which I adore using, is nearly coming to an end :(. So the reason I ordered the Lycon Apple and Cranberry Sugar Scrub from the Beautorium is the fact that it can be used for manicures :). This product is available in 2 sizes; a 100ml tube and a 520g jar. Of course for the price, the 520g jar is way more better value. The tube is a pastel aqua green colour with a clear, white plastic flip top lid. The sugar scrub is clear with a tinge of aqua green colour to it. It has a thick consistency being made up of coarse granules of sugar. It has a fresh fruity fragrance to it as it contains extracts of apple and cranberries. As it is completely oil free, this scrub is ideal to use in manicures because you can apply nail polish onto the fingernails straight after using this product and drying the nails. To use the product it is applied to moist skin or hands need to be wet to apply it. I have used it to scrub nails to loosen and remove any dead skin clinging to my nails after the cuticles have been pushed back with a cuticle pusher or orange stick. I have also used it on my face because information on the Internet say that the coarse granules of sugar are just the right size to use on this area without causing any damage or harm to the skin. The benefits of using a sugar scrub is that sugar is not only a wonderful exfoliator, it is a natural humectant which attracts moisture to the skin to keep it hydrated. Sugar also is also a natural source of glycolic acid (AHA) which penetrates the skin and encourages cell turnover thus generating fresher, younger looking skin. As I applied this product to my wet face using a circular motion, I could feel how hydrated my skin was becoming as the sugar crystals dissolved to nothing. The product rinsed away cleaning without any oily feeling at oil and after patting my face with a towel, left my skin looking fresh and feeling smooth. This enabled any other skin care products which I applied to my face afterwards, absorb into my skin more readily. I am very happy that I ordered this sugar scrub from the Beautorium because I didn't realise that this product had so many good benefits. In fact, this type of scrub is recommended for women with mature skin. With this knowledge, I will definitely be using sugar scrubs like this product in the future. It is not only good for me but also good for the environment as well.

The Lycon Apple & Cranberry sugar scrub smells absolutely amazing!I love the fact that it's OIL FREE! It means I have no yucky oily residue left over, just skin that's as smooth as a babys bottom! I like using this all over my body (not the face) to exfoliate - a little goes a long way. It comes in a large 520g jar which means it lasts ages too! As the scrub is oil free I recommend wetting your skin first in the shower before scrubbing away, it helps to make the glide over the skin easier! It really works wonders for buffing away dead skin! Everyone should try it! They also have 6 different flavours, can't wait to try the others! :D
