Q: What makes this range suitable for all skin types?
A: By careful screening and curation of our ingredients, we have designed outstanding formulas that are suitable for all skin types.
For example, we look after people with sensitive skin by using ingredients suitable for sensitive skins. In addition, we have also carefully selected non-comedogenic ingredients to take care of oily skins, and a multitude of intelligent hydrating and anti-ageing ingredients to look after dry and mature skins, without over-burdening oily skins. There are scores of effective ways in how this formulation philosophy plays out.
An example is that we might use Shea Butter, Olive Squalane and vegan ceramides to provide hydration and barrier repair that suits dry skin, mature skin, sensitive skin and oily/problematic skin. On the hydration side, we employ a xylitol (a natural sugar) derived complex that brings optimised hydration in a balanced way so that dry skin is looked after without over-moisturising normal or oily skin. One of our main hero ingredients, Yeast Beta-Glucan, is also fundamental in making LYCON Skin products very ‘adaptive’ and suitable for multiple skin types.
Q: Are parabens or sulphates used? Is this clean skincare?
A: LYCON Skin uses neither parabens nor sulphates.
‘Clean’ skincare is ultimately in the eye of the beholder, but we heavily rely on gentle, natural and naturally derived ingredients in formulating LYCON Skin.
We haven’t uncritically bowed down to every last TikTok fad though – we have remained rational and balanced in creating the LYCON Skin range which focusses on natural but effective ingredients for the long term.
Q: Can you wear masks overnight?
A: It very much depends on the purpose of the mask. Our Deep Hydration Hyaluronic Mask can be used as an overnight or sleeping mask, with great results.
Our Radiance Lime Caviar AHA Mask and Superfruits 3 Minute Detox Mask should both be used more in the 3–20 minute range, rather than left on overnight.
Q: Should you apply Exotic Oil before or after moisturising?
A: It really comes down to personal choice, but generally speaking, it makes sense to put aqueous rich products (e.g. hydrating serum) on first, followed by emulsions (day creams, night creams etc.), followed by oil-based serums, like Exotic Oil Complex.
This is because an oil-based serum can slow or hinder the absorption of water-soluble ingredients. Oil-based serums can be regarded as ‘locking in’ moisture, so it makes sense to apply them last.
It’s not a hard and fast rule though, for example, people with very dry skin might like to sparingly use Exotic Oil Complex on very dry patches before moisturiser application.
Q: Is the Micellar Facial Cleansing Gel the same as micellar water?
A: It is very similar to micellar water in that they both employ the same type of mild micellar surfactants, but the LYCON Skin Micellar Facial Cleaning Gel is a thicker and more powerful type of cleanser that also effectively removes difficult residues such as eye makeup, without sacrificing gentleness.
The Micellar Facial Cleansing Gel is to be rinsed off, not left on like micellar water, which we believe gives a better overall result for your skin and less product is used, compared to micellar water.
